One weekly rate per car with everything already in it. 27 cars are listed today, and any of them can be collected from either branch.
From $175 a week
The long-term rate, on hires of 28 days or more. That is the cheapest cars in the fleet; every car shows its own weekly rate on the listing.
Under 28 days, from $215 a week
Same all-in deal on a shorter hire. Minimum hire is 2 days, and the minimum charge on any hire is $150.
$400 bond
Charged at booking and refunded to the same card about 2 weeks after you return, less any outstanding tolls or charges.
$2,000 or $3,000 excess
Standard Protection carries a $2,000 excess for drivers 25 and over and $3,000 for 21 to 24. Excess Reduction at $30 a week brings those down to $800 and $1,500.

Browse the fleet and choose a car. A bare search opens on tomorrow plus 28 days, so the first rate you see is the long-term one.
Bring your documents.
Full licence, passport, and something official with the address you are staying at. An International Driving Permit or certified translation too, if the licence is not in English.
Pay and drive.
First week plus the $400 bond at booking. Collect from Malvern or South Melbourne, then extend week by week for as long as you need the car.

Can I hire a car on a Working Holiday Visa?
Yes. A Working Holiday Visa is no barrier at all. You need to be 21 to 75 with a full licence, your passport, and something official showing the address you are staying at. Learner and probationary licences are the only ones we cannot take.
What does it actually cost?
From $175 a week on hires of 28 days or more, and from $215 a week under 28 days, both on the cheapest cars in the fleet. Every car shows its own weekly rate. Add the $400 bond at booking, which comes back to the same card about 2 weeks after you return.
What is in the weekly rate?
Standard Protection damage cover, 24/7 RACV roadside, servicing, maintenance and rego, and 500 km a week. A part week still gets the full 500. Excess Reduction at $30 a week is the one optional extra, priced on the site before you book.
Can I drive for Uber or do deliveries?
Not without our written consent. The standard agreement covers personal use and commuting. If the work you have lined up needs the car, ask us before you book and we will give you a straight answer.
Can I take the car interstate?
Victoria only, unless we give you written consent to leave the state first. There is plenty inside the border, and 500 km a week covers most of it. Tell us where you are headed and we will sort it out.
I am under 25. Does that cost more?
Not on the weekly rate. Drivers 21 to 24 carry a $3,000 insurance excess instead of $2,000, and Excess Reduction at $30 a week brings that to $1,500. The rate itself is the same one a 40 year old pays.
